About Unionworks

We are a collective of individuals, ideas, and imaginations working in unison, with great respect for our differences. Architects, designers, artisans—the UNIONWORKS team and our close collaborators represent diverse perspectives and skill sets. In our experience, the most exciting work flows from disparate points of view, skillfully combined.

UNIONWORKS was founded by Poonam Khanna, a trained architect and designer whose sensibility is at once luxurious, discreet, and inviting. There is a thoughtfulness to her approach, a kind of intentionality, that can be felt both in her work and in the collaborative process. “I’m driven by curiosity,” she notes, “and guided by empathy.”

Our projects, which encompass residential, retail, corporate, hospitality, and fashion, have been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Interior Design, House & Garden UK, and Vogue Living.

A cozy living room with a blue sofa, colorful cushions, and a floral ottoman. Large windows let in natural light, and a modern black pendant light hangs overhead. A plaid rug adds warmth, and a vase of flowers sits on a side table.

We seek to tell a story

Exploratory conversations with our clients are the foundation of our process. We believe design is emotional and deeply personal, and we endeavor to create unique spaces that resonate viscerally, effortlessly.

From there, ideas begin to take tangible form: sketches, mood boards, photographs, even objects sourced from nature.

We proceed with editorial rigor, considering the atmosphere created by a well-chosen wall color, the soft power of sumptuous textiles, the way light can imbue a space with meaning, the lives this space will hold.
